WHAT DO YOU DO?

We help youth break the cycle of poverty through education. We guide them to high school graduation, prepare them for college and scholarship them through college. Our ultimate goal is that these scholars today will grow up to be men and women engaged in their communities.

WHY DO YOU DO IT?

Boys Hope Girls Hope believes that our scholars have a world of potential hidden within them. Education is the key that opens that door. We are a place for emerging leaders, filled with learning, encouragement and possibilities. We are opening new doors of opportunity.

WHAT IMPACT ARE YOU MAKING?

We are working with 69 scholars; 13 in the Residential program, 48 in the Academy Program and 8 Collegians. In May 2016, all 9 Aurora Central HS scholars will graduate and go to college. To date, these 9 scholars have received over $50,000 of additional scholarships.

WHAT (OR WHO) INSPIRES YOU TO MAKE THIS IMPACT?

My family stressed the importance of education and giving back. I can’t thank my parents and grandparents enough!

WHAT IS (OR HAS BEEN) YOUR GREATEST CHALLENGE?

We are a small staff with a large mission. We rely heavily on volunteers and donors to achieve this mission. Finding and keeping committed volunteers and donors keeps me busy.

WHAT WORDS OF ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHER LEADERS WHO ARE LOOKING TO MAKE AN IMPACT?

My advice is the same to leaders as it is to the scholars. You have to show up everyday ready to give 110%.
