TELL US, WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU DO?

I am Krista Resnick and I am a success coach and a leadership expert. I help women stop settling, embrace who they are, and define success on her own terms. I also am a sought-after speaker and a podcaster. And I cannot leave off the fact that I am the mom of three wild boys who are 21, 18, and 16.

HOW DID YOU GET HERE?

I have a degree in social work but I chose to stay at home with my three boys while they were young because there weren’t a lot of childcare options for us in our small community. When my now 16-year-old was in first grade I found myself feeling really stuck. There was a specific day when I was moving the sheets from the washer to the dryer. I lingered in front of the dryer for a couple of moments watching the sheets tussle to and fro, and I thought to myself, “That feels like my life. I feel like I wake up every day and I just get parceled to and fro. There doesn’t seem to be a lot of direction.” That was really my defining moment in terms of thinking about, what do I really want for my life? What do I really stand for? What are my values? Who am I? What am I here to do? What kind of work am I here to do in the world? Ultimately asking those questions and getting really curious about my own life led me to coaching school.

WHAT DO YOU STAND FOR? WHY IS THIS WORK IMPORTANT TO YOU?

I really stand for women developing high-quality relationships with themselves. I stand for women not giving their power and their worth away to things outside of themselves. I stand for women healing from the wounds and the trauma that we all have endured. We’re all carrying around wounds and hurt that block us from really showing up as our true, beautiful, worthy, authentic selves. And that’s what I’m passionate about. That’s what I stand for. That work is important to me because until you can really free yourself of those patterns that you have created to hold yourself back, you will always feel like something’s missing. You will always feel hollow, you will always feel as though you are in a prison cell. And I really teach women how to be free to walk around in this world and love who they really are, free to know that they’re worthy and that they’re enough.

WHAT IMPACT ARE YOU MAKING?

For each client, it looks very different. Some clients just feel better and excited when they wake up in the morning. Some feel calm instead of overwhelmed. Some feel free instead of frazzled. Some feel powerful, instead of like a victim. They feel as though they are in control of their life. They feel confident, which results in doing things like buying a business or completely pivoting careers in the middle of a pandemic. For some, they’re moving across the world because they see an opportunity and they’re not allowing the fear to hold them back from going for it. They may be giving presentations in front of hundreds of people, something they never thought possible. They’re able to achieve this because they are now standing in their power and their truth.

WHAT (OR WHO) INSPIRES YOU TO DO THIS WORK?

It’s something that I can’t not not do. And I know the English is not correct, but I love that because I can’t not not do it. If I did not do this work, it would be as though somebody chopped my arms off and I’d be trying to navigate through the world with no arms. Something would be missing. This is what I was born to do. This is in my DNA. This is part of who I am and I absolutely cannot and will not deny it. When I watch my clients have these shifts and I watch their eyes light up and they get excited about their potential, it is just the most invigorating feeling. And I know that I’m helping somebody gain their life, their freedom, their power, and their voice back.

WHAT’S YOUR VISION, YOUR BIG DREAM FOR THE IMPACT YOU WANT TO MAKE?

I want to help heal millions, I want to make millions, and I want to serve millions. Truly, because I think there is this stigma around money and I think women are afraid to say, “I love money.” And I love making money because when I make a lot of money, I can recirculate that back into the world. I can do things like build orphanages, or I can do things like fund scholarships. I can give back. I am passionate about helping women heal through group coaching or private coaching. I am passionate about helping women be leaders in all capacities of their lives because that just spills out into the next generation.

WHAT CHALLENGES ARE YOU FACING?

Me. I am one of my own greatest challenges. It’s important to share that we are never done growing and rising. When you’ve arrived, you’re dead. That means that I will always be moving into the next level of myself and that’s really uncomfortable at times. It’s painful to shed another layer of some sort of trauma or behavior and step into this constant new version of myself. I’m not who I was last Friday because I am constantly in the thick of another upper level. It’s like a snake shedding its skin at times. What makes the “hard” not quite so hard is enlisting support. It will always be hard, but when you get the support that you need it will be that much less hard.

WHAT’S ONE THING YOU WANT PEOPLE TO KNOW ABOUT THE WORK YOU’RE DOING?

I would want people to know that they’re enough, that they matter. We have to start there. Everybody on this planet matters, everybody on this planet is enough. Everybody has trauma from their childhood, everybody has patterns that they’ve created from their childhood to protect them so that they feel safe in the world. It’s really a process of uncovering all of that garbage that you’ve piled on and releasing that trauma so that you can really show up in a way that you know you matter and you know you’re enough.

I want women to learn to prioritize themselves. We’ve been taught wrong, that it’s noble to be a people pleaser and a wonderful thing to put everybody before ourselves. That’s not why your life was given to you. I teach women to be “healthy selfish.” I’m teaching them how to really care for themselves in the same way they care for the other people they’re constantly giving their energy to.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE QUOTE OR WORDS OF INSPIRATION TO SHARE?

I have two that are meaningful. The first is, “How we do anything is how we do everything.” If we’re hiding in one area of our life, we’re hiding in another. If we are giving our power away in one area of our life, we’re giving it away in another. We do not compartmentalize as humans.

My second favorite quote right now is “Clear is kind.” It’s a Brené Brown quote. I’m using that quote in my own life and in my clients’ lives a lot. Many women that come to me don’t always know what they want. They’re very unclear and fuzzy. It produces a lot of anxiety in their lives. When we get “clear,” we know what the next step is, what action to take and how to start showing up. It’s the best gift that you can give yourself. There are lots of reasons why we block ourselves from being “clear,” which we won’t get into. But I’ve been using the quote a lot to help myself and help my clients really get clarity around what is it that they desire for their life.

HOW CAN OTHERS SUPPORT YOU OR YOUR CAUSE?

I have a free assessment that I offer people to get clarity in their life around where they are now. It’s very important for people to understand what’s happening in their world. Where are they with health and wellness, or spirituality, or purpose and vision, or career? And then we can move into where they want to be six months or one year from now. Allow themselves to dream. And then there’s that middle part, what’s standing in their way? That’s where we’re going to start. Clients immediately want the corner office or the BMW, but we have to start with what’s standing in their way or they would have those things already. So that’s what the assessment does, it helps them get “clear” on those things. And then once people download the assessment they get some free little goodies from me, there’s a beautiful meditation as part of that and some other support tools along the way. But clarity is a massive gift to yourself and to those around you that you love and care about.
